Why Choose Us?

Peer Prep Academy was built on a simple idea: the best person to prepare a student for the SAT is someone who just took it and crushed it. Every tutor on our team scored 760+ on the section they teach or a 5 on the AP exam they're tutoring, and all of us have personally sat for the current digital SAT, so we teach the test students actually face, not an outdated version of it. We work remotely with Bay Area students on SAT/PSAT prep and math from Algebra through AP Calculus, combining real expertise with the kind of patient, relatable teaching style that comes from being close in age to the students we work with.

SAT 150+ Point Increase Guaranteed (or a 1500+)

Tutors Received 5s on Every AP They Tutor

ALL Tutors Took the Current Digital SAT/PSAT

Traditional Tutors Haven't Caught Up.

The SAT/PSAT went fully digital, and it's a different test: adaptive sections, a built-in graphing calculator, shorter reading passages, and a different pacing strategy than the old paper exam. Most established tutoring services are staffed by adults who only ever took the old paper SAT, years or decades ago. Every tutor at Peer Prep Academy has personally taken the current digital SAT — so we're teaching the exam students actually face, not the one they remember from years back.

1560 SAT • 760 Writing / 800 Math • 1500 PSAT • National Merit Finalist

Subjects: SAT/PSAT, Algebra–AP Calculus, AP Calc BC, Physics C: Mechanics, Lang, APUSH, CSA, Chem, and Bio.

UC San Diego (incoming)

Hello! I'm a founder of Peer Prep Academy with a 1560 on the SAT (800 Math) and a 1500 on the PSAT. I've taken the current digital SAT myself, so I know exactly what students are up against, not the paper test tutors used to take years ago. I started tutoring because I genuinely like the moment a concept clicks, and I built this team around tutors who score high enough to back that up. When I'm not tutoring, I'm probably still doing math for fun, which says a lot about me.

1540 SAT • 770 Writing / 770 Math

Subjects: SAT/PSAT Reading/Writing and advanced math. Calc BC, Physics C: Mechanics, and more.

UC Berkeley

Hello! I'm a student at UC Berkeley with a 1540 on the SAT (770 Writing and Math) and a strong track record in advanced math, including Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus in senior year. I also took the current digital SAT myself, so I know firsthand what today's students are dealing with… the pacing, the adaptive sections, all of it. I tutor SAT/PSAT prep along with upper-level math, and I genuinely enjoy breaking down problems that seem intimidating until you see the trick behind them. My goal in every session is for students to leave not just with the right answer, but with the confidence that they can get there on their own next time!

1500 SAT • 770 Writing / 730 Math

Subjects: SAT/PSAT Reading/Writing and math support.

UCLA

Hello! I work with students on the reading and writing side of test prep along with general math support, and I try to make both feel a lot less abstract than they usually do in a classroom. A lot of students freeze up on Writing because it feels subjective — I focus on showing them it's actually pretty rule-based once you know what to look for. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing tennis, going to the gym, and exploring San Francisco and LA with my friends!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — all sessions are conducted remotely via Google Meet or Zoom. This allows us to work with students anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area without any commute time. We use shared screens and specialized digital tools to replicate a real tutoring experience. In-person sessions in San Francisco are available for an additional $30 per session.
We primarily work with high school students in grades 8–12. This covers everything from Algebra I support for incoming freshmen to AP Calculus BC and SAT prep for seniors. We occasionally work with advanced middle schoolers — reach out and we'll let you know if we're a good fit.
The College Board transitioned the SAT to a fully digital, adaptive format — and it's a meaningfully different test from the old paper version. The digital SAT has adaptive sections (your second module adjusts based on your first), shorter reading passages, a built-in graphing calculator, and different pacing demands. Most adult tutors only ever took the paper SAT years or decades ago and are teaching strategies that no longer apply. Every tutor at Peer Prep Academy has personally sat for the current digital SAT, so our prep is specific to the test students are actually taking.
We have a strict minimum standard: all tutors must have scored 760+ on the SAT section they teach, or earned a 5 on any AP exam they tutor. Beyond scores, we look for communication skills, patience, and a genuine ability to explain things clearly. Every tutor goes through an onboarding process before working with students. We'd rather have a small team of excellent tutors than a large roster of mediocre ones.
We accept payment via Venmo and Zelle for all sessions and packages. For single hourly sessions, payment is typically collected after each session. For packages, payment is collected upfront at a discounted rate. We'll confirm all the details during your free intro call.
We recommend starting at least 8–10 weeks before your target test date. This gives us enough time to run a diagnostic, work through all key skill areas, and complete at least one or two full practice tests before the real thing. That said, we've seen meaningful score improvements in as little as 3–4 weeks of focused prep — so reach out regardless of your timeline and we'll tell you what's realistic.
Yes — we offer a free 30-minute intro call to assess your student's goals, current level, and whether we're a good fit. This is a no-pressure conversation, not a sales pitch. If you'd like to move forward, we'll recommend the right tutor and package for your situation. You can book the intro call directly through our Calendly link or by submitting the contact form below.
